Sailors still hunting for
points after weekend
Although here were many moments of excitement
and promise in the weekend's two home games, the
Sailors are still struggling to put a full 60 minutes of
hockey together, and as a result are still looking for their
first points of the young season.
. Friday night at the MRC, the Sailors faced the
defending -champion Walkerton Hawks for the sec-
ond time in three games, and things went much the
same as game one, with the llawks winning by six.
The Sailors skated well with the Hawks for over a
period, and then took their foot off the gas at the
wrong times, and paid for it. Tyler Million and Tom
Bedour picked up goals in the loss.
Saturday night, Hanover came to town with a line-up
that may have looked deeper than the Hawks. The first
period saw end to end action, with both goalies holding
their teams in. The second and third, for the fourth
game in: a mw seemed to unravel for the Sailors, and for
the second night in a row, they found themselves on the
wrong end of an 8-2 score. Same. Feagan caught fire
Saturday night, picking up a goal and an assist, and
Brandon Priestap showed his scoring touch with his
first as a Sailor.
The Sailors head back to Hanover for a rematch on
Friday night, before hosting the Kincardine Bulldogs
in their next home game, Saturday, September 24 at
8 p.rn.

The Goderich Junior 'C' Sailors lost momentum
In their two games this weekend against the
Walkerton Hawks Friday and Hanover Barons
Saturday at home.
On Saturday, October 1, the Sailors host -the
Wingham Ironmen, and FirstOnSite Restoration
has jumped onboard. In addition to being game
night sponsor, FirstOnSite will be treating the
first 250 fans to free general admission.

The Goderich Pirates are lac-
ing up
ac-ing.up for an exhibition this Fri-
day, September 22, taking on the
Komoka Classics on home turf.
The Classics, formerly the Lucan-
Ilderton Jets, should present a
good test for the Pirates this Fri-
day, according to General Man-
ager Trevor Bazinet. Game time
is 8:30 p.m. at the Maitland Rec-
reation Centre.
Three goaltenders will be suit-
ing up for the game, returning
players Tyler Coot and Ryan.
Shelton and newcomer Chris
Abbey of London.
Abbey brings years of OHL and
varsity experience between the
Goderich pipes, playing on the
Sudbury Wolves and later the
Western Mustangs.
Another Forest City connection,
forward Aaron 'Tuffin is coming to
the team after playing Junior 'B' for
the London Nationals.
This ,weekend will also give
the Pirates a chance to finalize
their roster. Last year at this
time the team was hurting for
players, but early training skates
have turned up between 22-24
each time as well as six goalies.
"It's been a very positive
training camp compared to last
year," Bazinet said. "We
shouldn't have the issue with
bodies this year that we did last.
We feel pretty good about the
way things are going."
For the coming season, Bazi-
net said he anticipates a strong
showing from the Pirates for-
wards, and past head coach
Graham Hamilton will be step-
ping into the assistant role to
work with the team's defence.
"We've got some stuff we
want to work on with the guys
and hopefully make our
goaltender's life a little easier,"
Bazinet said: "We'll be raring to
go for the home opener
October 8."
There is still time if anyone
wants to try out for the team, he
added.
On the promotional side fa
things, Bazinet noted the Park
House Chuck -a -puck will be
giving away London Knights
tickets each game and an NHL
Jersey will be up for draw in the
Blue Line Club each game.
Season tickets should be
available at the exhibition game,
at $50 a set.
Once again the Pirates will
be holding a Come Skate with
the Pirates night to support the
Kids' Booster Club. It takes
place Friday, October 7 from
8-9 p.m.
