"This is a time of bereavement loss,
and sadness," said Tim Cumming,
President of the HTA and a resident of
Goderich. "I have seen how drasti-
cally this terrible weather event has
affected neighbours, friends, family,
and business people. I have also wit-
nessed how residents and business
owners are so courageously and reso-
lutely cleaning up, and rebuilding,

Cumming asked visitors to
Goderich and area to respect home
owners during an emotional time of
rebtdlding and to avoid the most heav-
ily damaged areas. He also said there
are areas throughout Huron County,
including Benmiller and Goderich,
that are appropriate to visit now and
in the corning months.
"We are encouraging tourists to
support those tourism enterprises that
are able to serve customers now and
to plan to visit, in the near future,
those businesses that are rebuilding
as soon as they are ready," he said. "I
think people are looking for practical
ways to help and they can do that
through donations to disaster relief
and downtown heritage restoration,
through attending the upcoming Out.
of the Storm benefit concert and
events, and through supporting busi-
nesses in all areas of Huron County,
including those destinations in Ben -
miller and Goderich that can serve cli-
ents now.
Individual members of the board
have been in discussion with govern-
mental and agency representatives to
identify ways to support the tourism
industry as It rebuilds.

event that has hurt the conununities
we love so much but there is still much
beauty throughout Huron County,
and in the Goderich and Benmiller
areas, and we encourage visitors to
those areas that can accomrnodate
them," Cumming said. "Huron County
can be strong once again and we wish
all our residents, business people, and
tourism destinations, the best in the
recovery and rebuilding effort and
thank those people who are support-
ing those businesses as they rebuild."
The people of Goderich, Benmiller,
and area, have demonstrated great
courage and resiliency, and the ability
to respond extraordinarily to an
extraordinary situation, according to
Cumming. He expressed confidence
that the tourism businesses of the
county will also show those traits as
they dedicate then: will, talent, vision,
resiliency and resolve to rebuilding
Ontario's West Coast for the benefit of
both residents and guests.
