The fundraising committee under Dr. Jasper, has established two co-chairs, Ken Dunn and Matt Hoy, both of whom have been involved in community fund- raising efforts for the Maitland Medical Clinic and CT Scan unit. "The need is massive and immediate" Hoy said. "It's not just Goderich, but it is the anchor of the county, The core area is gone, Sifto, the major employer, is not running and it affects the economy of the whole area. "Our. plea is to help our community." The Goderich and Area Disaster Relief Committee will expand with the addition of members form Ashfield- Colborne-Wawwnosh and Central Huron, areas that also sustained sub- stantial damage and were declared dis- aster areas. Many fundraising activities have taken place or are in the planningstages 8 and the committee suggested that peo- ple should contact them with the details of their efforts. The fundraising com mittee is in the process of producing a video that can be used for presentations to groups and speakers will also be made available. "We may not be through crying but now is the time to rebuild and revital- ize. We will become the pioneers of the next 175 years," a press release from the relief committee said. "Goderich is the anchor and its revival will bring = significant economic benefits to all of the com- munities in Huron County" Donations can be made to the Goderich Disaster Relief fund by phoning town hall at 519-524- 8344 or by sending a donation to the fund at 57 West.
