age -based EDGE fund, there are many
variables which will have to determine
how fully business owners are compen-
sated before additional fundraising can
even apply.
"We have no idea with the Goderich
fund or EDGE," he explained.. "We can't
spend dollars we don't know we have
access to.
"My board is paralyzed. Most are in
financial crises themselves."
Where is our BIA?
Strickland poses a valid question.
Most of the board are struggling to get
their own affairs settled after the storm,
looking to any and all avenues to get
hack open for business. While anxiety is
high, he noted there are some good
news stories to reach the business com-
munity.
omnunity. Huron County is extending a
shop Goderich campaign, and the
United Way is lending its support to the
business community.
However, .ti with many businesses
knocked out of commission, Strickland
noted even getting in contact with 0%1,

important than ever. The costs associ-
ated with starting back up in a new loca-
tion can he steep, between advertising,
and new and old bills to pay.
However, the business centre has
been an effective hub matching space
and resources to those who need it, Ulti-
mately, Strickland said there will 1u
some businesses that don't survive the
tornado. However, for those that remain, -
the word must get out - Gaderich busi-
nesses need (Goderich support locally,
politicall` and economically.
