For a few hours on Sunday, August 28, the actors playing the roles of those who have lived at The Ridge and house tour guests were able to clear their minds of the disaster in Goderlch. Much laughter could be heard emitting from the house as the guided tour unfolded many times through the day. - Many who had been severely affected by the tornado carne and were able to laugh and enjoy themselves for a few hours and find hope and renewal touring an old home that at onetime had been slated for demo- lition in the 1940s. About 170 people took the tour of the historic Ridge House and over $9,000 was raised from the Colborne Township 175th anniversary event and the sale of history books. Proceeds from the event will be used to repair the Colborne Cemetery entrance gates. Volvo will now provide further assistance in the form of 5250,000 Canadian dollars, donated to the recently established Goderich Disaster Assistance Relief Pt 0 - gram. The fund, setup by the province of Ontario, will help with the clean-up program, rebuilding public infrastructure airtd providing support to those personally affected by the disaster. Goderich has a long history with Volvo - formerly the location of a Volvo plant and still hone to many former (and current.) Volvo employees - and the company felt a strong need to act. President and CFO of Volvo Construction Equipment, ent, Pat Olney, says: "Our thoughts are with those who were affected by. this disaster and their families.
