The problem is snow accumulation dur- ing snow squall events at the junc- tion of Airport Road and Highway. 21. Denman told council members that as the intersection provides the sole access for emergency vehicles, safety and snow removal efforts must be evaluated and improved with the cooperation of ACW and Goderich Townships, as well as the Ministry of Transportation. During the August 16 meeting of ACW Council, it was noted that although not within the municipality's 2011 budget, all necessary utilities have been located for the possible redesign of the north side of Airport Road. . "It was nasty last year, whether we can get through another winter and put it in the budget then is up to council," said Public Works Super- intendent Brian Van Osch. Council ultimately voted in favour of proceeding with the redesign at an estimated cost of $15,000. It's estimated the work will take five to six days. "It's a busy road and we should do it: noted Coun. Doug Miller. "It would help to move the hill back with gradual slope and deeper ditch," said ACW Reeve Ben Van Diepenbeek. The Reeve also expressed an interest in seeing a snow fence installed higher on the hillside. Due to the proximity to the Goderich Municipal Airport, any such design can be no higher than eight feet. While you're doing that ... The stone pillars located along Airport Road have been in disrepair for some time, ACW Council heard Tuesday. Back in 2006, the munici- pality agreed to have the pillars removed however at the time, Her- itage Goderich expressed an inter- est in preserving the stones for their own use. Recently, the heritage committee determined they no longer want to retain the stone, and ACW will move ahead with the pillar removal when work on the Airport Road redesign begins. ario's agriculture highlighted at Taste of Huron Culinary Festival Third annual estival welcomes Fop Chef Canada ontenders ird annual award -win- e of Huron culinary fes- lit es- 1it Ontario's West Coast September 10, 2011 ate all things food and -luron County.
