Various community groups that have benefitted from Lions' donations include; Goderich Minor Hockey Asso- dation, minor soccer and base- ball, figure skating and ringette assodadons. The club is also supportive of bursaries and scholarships to graduating students and funds Melvin Jones and John Stringer Awards to high school graduating students. Through its activities and fundraisers, the club has also been able to provide support o the Seaforth Girls marching Band, pro- vided ice rental for free public skating for children at the Maitland Recreation Cen- tre, helped fund the purchase and installa- tion costs of playground equipment at local schools and assisted organizations such as Big Brother and Sisters of Huron, Camp Menesetung, Goderich Children's Festival, the aquatic swim team and a number of other community youth groups and programs. 'We are asking council to consider a donation to assist with the funding shortfall for the equipment, memorial and recognition plaques for the park benches as well as sup- plies for renewing the existing swing set," Hemp explained. Following a brief discussion on similar donations made by the municipality, notably the Colborne School Playground project, members of council voted in favour of a $2,000 con- tribution to the Auburn effort.
