"Only about 2 per cent of the homes have detectors ane it is a serious problem because people don't get a second chance, she said. "We have had 16 units donated already and money raised at the event is used to purchase carbon monoxide detec- tors. `the detectors are given out to people using the food bank." Residents are asked to take part to the family events at St. Vincent de Paul on Sat- urday and make a donation that can be. used to purchase life-saving equipment. Donated items came and went during the two-day event, garnering more than $1,500 in proceeds toward the digital mammography campaign. Shoppers came fast and steady Friday, August 19, said Digital imaging Manager Colleen Maguire. She said community members showed overwhelming support for the event. By noon on Saturday, only a few tables of goods remained. Volunteers at the event included Colleen Maguire, Heather Glenister, Stephanie Harris, Judy Kerr, Rebekah Clarke Robinson, Suzanne Robinson, Kristen Cardwell and Heather Robinson.
