"I'm pretty reserved, no makeup, conserva- tive," Maguire said. "But I said if they could raise $200 I'd put a pink stripe in my hair. That $200 soon became more than $600 and Maguire's pink stripe became two, and then a full makeover courtesy of Courtney Henry at Montage. Staff at the AMGH gathered in the cafeteria Wednesday for the official 'unveiling' of the new Colleen. The new look was a big hit - both for Maguire and the campaign. "How far are you out of your com- fort zone?" one colleague asked. "Way out. Not even in the building," was Maguire's reply. To date $350,000 has been raised for the Keeping Abreast campaign - which is raising money for digital mammography equipment at the hospital. Chief Dave Lew at upon investigat- atter by consulting fire chief and wind es, the short answer be that it is up to the mpanies to get the down to the ground mergency services I could begin adrnin- atment. or fire departments high-level rescue, MacLellan says given that the county will soon be home to more than 1,000 turbines, it seems unreasonable that there is not a better plan in place. Indeed, says MacLellan, if a wind company employee were to suffer a heart attack and have to wait for treatment until he or she is on the ground, it would be "a black eye" for the county. Whlle MacLellan suggests one step in the right direction is to require all wind lease- holders to have appropriate insurance in the event of such an emergency, Lew says he will check into the matter fur- ther as he has been told by at least one wind company source that there is an emer- gency plan in place. They do have a plan ... I have yet to the plan, says Lew. aortas Publishers limited A Subs liarof Sun Media Corporation - A r.Company The Goderich Signal -Star, published every Wednesday. 52 times per year. at , Ontario is one of The Signal -Star Ptbkaf ing Group of Community Newspapers.
