From the Yukon LO Florida to the East Coast, peo-
ple flock from ail over to the annual Celtic College in
Goderich, held at GD(I.
The halls of the school were filled with music last
week, as the college got into full swing in anticipa-
tion of the Celtic Festival, August 5,. 7.
More than 200 students enrolled this yearand the
-feeling is very much lire a family reunion according
to organizers Katy Johnston and Lisa Hood. Year
after year, many (lithe same familiar faces make the
pilgrimage to Goderich, not only to take in classes
lied by 50 world-class musicians, but to share their
own styles and take something from the shared
experience.
"A large part of Celtic muslc is learning new
styles," Hood said. "Put more into your repertoire
and take it home with you,"
Students also get the chance to see their teachers
in action, as many are main -stage performers in the
festival itself.

Classes range um beginner to advanced, thoug
regardless of talent level, the uniting factor is a lov
for the music, the people € rad the mythology.
As much as the musicians embrace Goderich, the
opposite is also true. Mood noted 80 homes have
opened their doors w help billet the 90 performers.
One block away on Bennett Street, the children's
camp was also bustling with activity.
About 50 students were si # ed up for the camp,
and last Wednesday, they were treated to an out-
door dance recital.
This is the 17thyear for the college, 8th for the
kids' camp and the 19th year for the festival itself.
