the third time in eight
at the Ontario
Championship has been hosted by
Sunset Golf Club Just north of
Goderich and the OGA extended
its thanks to the family, staff mem -
bers and course volunteers who
supported the event and allowed
their course to be used. It marked
the 77th time the championship
was contested.
"It's the third time we have
hosted the tournament in the past
8 years and they have asked us to
apply again," Sunset owner Gary
Gravett said. "They like the length
of the course, the tightness of the
fairways and the fact the players
have to hit every club in .the bag."
The course played to 5,870 yards,
the equivalent yardage from the
men's blue tees. The OGA sets the
course up for all three rounds,
selecting the tee blocks and pin
placements for .each round.

Gravett has been encouraged to
apply to host the tournament for a
fourth time.
"They like the course and how it
sets up but they really like the
practice facility here; he. said.
"There are many courses that don't
have an extensive range where
many players can practice at the
same time. We also roped the area
off so they could practice on their
own."
Jennifer Kirby, who played here
in the 2007 tournament, won the
Canadian amateur Championship
last year. And Stephanie Sherlock,
of Barrie, who lost in playoff at
Sunset in 2004 now has earned her
LPGA card and is playing on the
ladies' tour.
