, JUNIOR 'C' SAILORS
The Goderich Junior 'C' Sail-
ors got a new head coach in 2009
- this year in the form of 'AAA'
Lakers' coach of five years, Todd
Goetz.
Goetz's arrival was first an-
nounced in April of this year and
with it came a program based on

obligation for players.
Prior to the 2009 season, the
Goderich Junior 'C' Sailors ran an
impressive pre -season eight -game
unbeaten streak, with six wins and
two ties before losing against Ex-
eter in Wingham Sept. 12.
The Goderich Junior 'C' Sailors
had the opportunity to challenge
some NCAA players this Octo-
ber, heading to Ohio to take on the
Bobcats.
Last season the Junior 'C' Sail-
ors were downed three straight by
Hanover in opening round Junior
'C' playoffs.
PIRATES
The Goderich Pirates met a sim-
ilar fate, dropping four straight in
the 'A' pool opening round against
the Petrolia Squires.
The loss put the Pirates up
against rivals Lucan-Ilderton, who
downed the hometown team in
WOAA quarter finals, though not
before an impressive 11-8 do-or-
die effort from the Pirates.
Graham Hamilton has decided
to step down as coach of the God-
erich Senior 'A' Pirates. The deci-
sion was announced earlier this
month, and Hamilton will be re-
placed by general manager Trevor
Bazinet for the remainder of the
season.
Goderich Pirates' Dave Merriam
was awarded Most Valuable Play-
er, as well as team scoring leader,
with 35 points in 20 games.
The Pirates are currently sitting
last in the WOAA South division
at 3-12-0.
