Local carpenters union donates $6,500 to Parkinson Society
Christmas came early to Parkinson So-
ciety Southwestern Ontario when a cheque
in the amount of $6500 arrived from the
United Brotherhood of Carpenters and
Joiners Goderich Local 2222.
Local 2222 representative, Bryan
Casemore, commented on the charitable
gift: "Each year we pick a charity that
affects our workers, and we know that
some of our own guys are struggling with
Parkinson's disease as we speak. The re-
gion our Local represents includes Huron,
Perth, Grey and Bruce counties so it was
a good fit knowing that these funds will
be used in all of these areas represented
by Parkinson Society Southwestern On-
tario."
The funds were raised this past summer

through a charity golf tournament that is
held each year, supported by the Local
membership. Parkinson Society South-
western Ontario offers support services
(support groups and counseling), educa-
tion, advocacy and research to ease the
burden and find a cure for this disease.
"We are absolutely thrilled with the
partnership opportunity the United Broth-
erhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local
2222 has offered our organization" stated
Tracey Jones Manager, Programs and Ser-
vices with Parkinson Society Southwest-
ern Ontario. "We receive no government
funding so when a group offers financial
support to continue providing services, we
certainly feel blessed. I don't have to look
too far to see that the true spirit of the holi-
days is all around us! Thank you again to
our friends at Local 2222!"
