(WWII VETERAN)
January 15, 1922 - November 28, 2009
Eldon passed away
suddenly at his
home in
Greenwood
Court Nursing
Home in
Stratford, at
noon on
Saturday while
sitting in his
chair (just as he
wanted). He had
formerly lived in
Lucknow for 32 years
after moving from his farm
home in Ashfield Township, north - of
Goderich. He is.mourned by his loving wife
of 65 years, Aliene Campbell Bradley whom
he married on December 16m, 1943. Also
left to mourn are one daughter Phyllis and
son-in-law David Todd of Stratford and two
granddaughters, Dr. Kate Todd of Guelph
and Emma Todd of Richmond, British
Columbia. Eldon also leaves behind one
sister-in-law, Evelyn Bradley of Point Clark
and eight nieces and one nephew. They are
Sandra and Gil Touringy of Calgary, Alberta;
Brenda and Don Whitfield of Sault Ste
Marie; Norman and Cathy MacLennan of
Listowel; Maureen and Dave Thomas of
Goderich; Mary and Bruce Scott of Huron
Township; Maxine and Greg Alton of
Wingham; Movita Bradley; Michele Bradley;
and Madonna and Bruce Terpstra all of
Waterloo. There are also many cousins,
great nieces and nephews and great -great
nieces and nephews who will miss Eldon.
Eldon was predeceased by his parents, John
Alexander Bradley and Mary Hackett as
well as his younger brother Jim Bradley, all
of Ashfield: He mourned the death of his
only son, Dr. John Bradley of lbronto in
. 2006. He was also predeceased by his
sister-in-law Dods (Brown) and brothers-in-
law Dr. Murray MacLennan and George
• Michie, all of the Wingham area, his father-
in-law Walter Brown of Amberley and
mothers-in-law Estelle Brown and Dorthea
Brown. Eldon was born and raised on the
Bradley Homestead on Highway 21 just
south of Amberley where he spent his early
years attending Laurier School and then
farming with his father and younger brother.
In 1942, at the age of 20, he joined the Royal
Canadian Air Force and he served his country
until the end of World War Two in 1945. He
was part of the Canadian Eastern Air
Command and was stationed in Mohcton,
New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Following the war he returned home where
he and Allene purchased their own farm in
Ashfield Township and together set up and
operated a mixed farming operation which
developed into a registered and accredited
herd of Holstein cattle of which Eldon was
most proud. The milk from their cows was
manufactured into cheese at the Pine River
Cheese Factory for many years. Both Eldon
and Aliene were happy that their farm is still
in operation today. In 1973 they sold the
farm and Eldon built a new home for himself
and Aliene in Lucknow. He enjoyed his
semi -retirement but kept busy helping with
field and barn work with his brother Jim as
well as travelling and selling grass seed to
other farmers in the area. He became a
director of the West Wawanosh Fire Insurance
Company where he worked for 16 years.
Eldon was always an active and participating
person in his community where he was a
member of the Amberley Loyal Orange
Lodge, the Pine River United Church (where
he served on the board and was manager of
the building committee for the new church
erected in 1958), the Royal Canadian Legion
Lucknow Branch 309, the Lucknow
International Lions Club and the Lucknow
United Church, as well as a member of the
Holstein -Friesen Association of Ontario. He
and Allene volunteered for many community
events including delivering Meals -On -
Wheels. He enjoyed bowling, curling and a
good euchre card game until failing eyesight
forced him to give up his work, volunteering
and sports activities. In 2005 Eldon and
Allene moved to Stratford to be closer to
family and they purchased a home in Hamlet
Estates. In 2007 they moved into the assisted
living Loft at Greenwood Court, and in June
2009 Eldon moved into the Nursing Home
at Greenwood where he was able to receive
the extra care that he needed. He battled
with, and accepted, his blindness and
deafness and decreased mobility during the
last years of his life but kept his good
humour, strong mind, dignity and love of
family until his passing. Eldon's funeral

In Men oriams
LINDSAY
In loving memory of a dear husband, father
and grandfather, John D. Lindsay, who passed
away December 11, 2006.
My thoughts are always with you,
Your place no one will fill,
In life 1 loved you dearly,
In death 1 love you still.
1 know you walk beside me,
And when my life is through,
1 pray that God will take my hand,
And take me straight to you.
They say that time heals everything,
But 1 know that it isn't true,
Because it hurts as much today,
As it did three years ago.
Forever in our hearts, Helen and family. —50x
NORAH HUGILL
In memory of our wonderful Mom, Grandma
and Great -Grandma who spent her "First
Christmas in Heaven" 10 years ago, December
9, 1999.
We feel your loving presence through the
beauty of flowers, sunsets, a fleeting butterfly,
feeding and watching the antics of birds at our
bird feeders and feeling the breath of wind
lightly kissing our faces. We especially
remember the wonderful aroma of your
Christmas dinners and how you kept our
family close not only during the holiday season
but all year long. You are the Angel on our
shoulder. Merry Christmas.
Love Janet, Vivienne, Randy and families.
