Give your time and talent to
create lasting memories
The holiday season is officially upon us and for most people in Huron
County it is a wonderful, festive and peaceful time of year.
Hectic, yes, but it gives people the opportunity to share their love,
good fortune and holiday spirit with family and friends.
There is no question that the Christmas season is a special time.
The true spirit of Christmas lies in the inner peace and sense of love
and caring that permeates our actions this time of year.
This year, perhaps more than ever, people in the Huron County com-
munity deserve our consideration and financial support. People are in
need and the real spirit of the season is manifested in the generosity of
people helping others.
And in Goderich, there is no shortage of that spirit, and shining exam-
ples of selfless and generous deeds abound.
More than ever, the disadvantaged and those who may be down on
their luck or suddenly find themselves without meaningful employment,
need our assistance. Christmas is also a time to volunteer and give that
special gift of time and generosity that will turn the season into a warm
and lasting memory for neighbours and strangers who may be finding it
tougher to make ends meet.
Right now, people across the county are working tirelessly at the
Christmas Bureau depots, sorting and arranging donations that will make
their way to the homes of many less fortunate families who might
require a helping hand this time of year. Children will enjoy the magic
of gifts at Christmas through the generosity of community -minded citi-
zens and families will be able to provide basic, but festive, meals that are
generally out of their financial reach.
It is the spirit of generosity and the free giving of time and energy that
will translate into lasting memories for others at Christmas.
Give generously of your time and money and support the Bureau and
the county's food banks that are experiencing unprecedented demands
for basic food supplies. Donations to the local food banks, St. Vincent
De Paul and Salvation Army will ensure that families have food to enjoy
over the holiday season.
The spirit of generosity has always been alive and well in Goderich
and Huron County and when there is a demonstrated need, local citizens
respond. Every time.
The approach of the Christmas season reminds us that it is the simple
gifts that matter. We can all do more. We can all give more.
Your generosity of spirit, time and funds will create some warm and
happy memories for the less fortunate in our community.
Be generous. (D.S.)
