Huron -East man in critical condition following accident
Huron OPP officers were on the scene of a
single motor -vehicle collision that occurred
shortly before 6:30 a.m. Monday on London
Road north of Kippen. The only occupant of
the vehicle, a 23 -year-old Huron East male,
was airlifted to the London Health Sciences
centre for treatment of life threatening inju-
ries. He remains in critical condition.
CAB DRIVER ROBBED
On Friday December 4 at approximately
3:45 p.m., a 17 -year-old male placed a call
to B&B Taxi to pick him up at the A&W res-
taurant in Goderich. A taxi operator picked
up the male and was directed to Bluewater
Beach Road and then to Black's Point Road.
At the end of the road the accused exited the
vehicle and then displayed a knife while tell-
ing the cab driver to get out and keep walk-
ing. The male stole the van and later led po-
lice on a chase that ended in Perth County.
The cab driver was not harmed in the inci-
dent.
As a result of the investigation,.the suspect
is now facing one count of Robbery with a
Weapon, one count of Dangerous Driving,
one count of Possession of Stolen Property,
one count of Flight from Police and one
count of Fail to Comply with Undertaking.
He was held in custody.
UNLOCKED VEHICLE STOLEN
On December 4 at approximately 6:30
a.m., Huron OPP officers were involved in
a foot pursuit with a male in the area of Di-
vision Line and Bridge Road. Police were
tracking the suspect's foot prints in the snow
and they were ledto a Bridge Road resi-
dence. At this address it was apparent that
the fleeing male entered a pick-up truck and
fled the scene.
Police are now looking for a dark blue
2005 GMC Sierra Z21. It has a short box
and is equipped with a soft roll up tonneau
cover. The plate number is 570 8VH. Inves-
tigation confirms that the truck had been left
unlocked and with the keys inside.
On several occasions in the last few months
police officers have been involved in foot
pursuits of fleeing suspects. During those
dangerous and busy times, officers have had
to deplete resources to begin checking ve-
hicles at private residences to ensure that the
fleeing suspects do not locate an escape ve-
hicle. Dozens of vehicles have been located
by officers which have been left unlocked
and with the keys inside.
Detachment Commander Inspector Dan
Grant urges members of the community to
get into the habit of locking their vehicles
and keeping the keys secure.
"This one act will go a long way towards
reducing crime and protecting property," he
adds.
IMPAIRED DRIVER CAUGHT BY
RIDE
On December 5, Huron OPP officers were
set up for a RIDE checkpoint in Goderich
when a vehicle approached the area. The
driver appeared to be confused. Upon speak-
ing to the driver, officers detected the strong
odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.
The driver also exhibited the signs of being
impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested
and taken to the Huron OPP detachment to
meet with a qualified Intoxilizer technician.
When asked to provide two samples of his
breath, the male refused.
As a result of the investigation, a 59 -year-
old Michigan man was charged with one
count of Impaired Driving and one count of
Fail to Provide Breath Sample. He was re-
leased with a court date of December 7, due
to his citizenship.

tor vehicle traveling southbound on Mor-
rison Line in the Municipality of Huron
East The officers initiated a traffic stop and
upon speaking to the driver, they imme-
diately detected the odour of an alcoholic

demand was read for the driver to provide
a roadside sample of his breath. The driver
complied, failed his test and was arrested for
Drive with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol.
The male was then transported to the Exeter
detachment where he met with an Intoxil-
izer technician to provide two more samples
