coaching excellence awards
Its time again to recognize the out-
standing contribution your coach has
made !
The Ontario Coaching Excellence
Awards aim to recognize the outstand-
ing achievements and significant con-
tributions coaches have made to both
their sport and athletes in Ontario.
Once again this year, there are four
categories of awards which refer to the
type of athlete the coach is primarily
responsible for. In each category both
males and female coaches will be rec-
ognized.
- Recreational / Grass Roots Catego-
ry
- Developmental Category
- School Sport Category (selected by
OFSAA)
- High Performance Category
Nominations can be made online at
www.coachesontario.ca or hard copy
forms can be obtained at the CAO office.
To be eligible for an Ontario Coaching
Excellence Award, a coach must coach
amateur athletes, and have a minimum
of three years coaching experience in
Ontario. The nominated coach must
also consent to the nomination.
The selection of recipients is based
on their unique contribution to sport
through continuous development. The
awards do not reflect tJIe accomplish-
ments of a coach in any one-year; rather
the award is designed to recognize the
contributions a coach has made over a
period of years.
"It's an honour beyond belief to be
selected from a great group of people,
to be a part of this is incredible," said
Jos Nederveen - recipient of the 2009
coaching excellence award, school
sport category.
All complete nomination 'forms, and
any supporting documents (i.e. letters
of reference, news articles, etc.) must
be received by Friday December 15,
2009 at ' .00 p.m.
All e -n led nominations will be con-
firmed. If you do not receive confirma-
tion, please re -send or contact Keeley
MacLean at (416) 426-7139.
The Awards will be presented at an
evening reception at the Ontario Coach-
es Conference on Saturday, February
27, 2010 in Guelph.
