Schaefer's Ladies Wear in Goderich, Christine's Clothes Closet in Wingham, and European Addition in Exeter will be making donations to the $550,000 cam- paign over the next four months. For every pair of briefs, each bra and swimsuit sold, these three stores will con- tribute to "From the Bottom Up...". Storeowners Louise Schaeffer, Chris- tine McGrath, and Allison Wedlake read- ily recognized the importance of having state of the art mammography available to Huron County women. Full -field digital mammography trans- mits high-resolution images of breast tissue to a computer. Such enhanced im- ages can be further manipulated, thereby allowing more thorough examination and interpretation. These superior quality mammograms are especially important in screening younger women: Some of the benefits of having full -field digital technology available are earlier detection of breast abnormalities, lower fir tv>r a: Eabr sty 28th,1010 *r, *Winter Service Includs: • #H, Lobo & Niter • Tact blodl hootor • Vim/ aWd'lroolco condition and strath • bawling 11 bchar.*, and , • Toot fug, Ignition Somission control item. • Inspect braking system • Inspect front chassis • Inspect exhaust system • And morel We will recommend your manufacturer's required maintenance. • Maim vee• I .n.nd up WI .xh,dts++p to ! w., of to ,4tor.4 SW" o 10610 mat"' olb. "We're so pleased to have these Huron County businesses taking part in our ef- forts and sharing our vision," reports Heather Glenister, Executive Director of the AMGH Foundation. Glenister reports that a Steering Com- mittee has been put together to spearhead the "Keeping Abreast" campaign and that there will be several fun events coming up in the New Year. "Never doubt that a group of smart women put together in a room can come up with innovative ideas," laughs Glenis- ter. "I'm just trying to keep up." Inherent to the main goal of the cam- paign is education and encouragement of women to be proactive about their health. With one in nine women living to age 85 expected to develop breast cancer, increased use of Huron County's Breast Screening Program by more women is definitely an objective of "Keeping Abreast". "We'll be taking the message through- out the county about the importance of regular screening and early detection," Glenister says. While lingerie and swimsuits are some- times difficult to choose as presents, gift certificates can be the answer to giving something special to that special some- one—and getting them from Schaeffer's Ladies Wear, Christine's Clothes Closet or European Addition means a donation to a significant project happens too. Women's health issues are everyone's issues. Full -field digital mammography needs to happen. With the help of Hu- ron County residents, service .clubs and companies, such as these three forward - thinking businesses, it will. "Mammograms are really sort of a gift. You can either catch some- thing early or count your lucky stars because nothing was discov- ered. Either way, you're ahead of the game. " -- Charlotte Ross
