Omani, (61514 Photo by Gerard Crews Pastor Rod Gauthier (middle back) is flanked by his two sons; Matt and David, and accompanied by wife Cherry and daughter Hannah during his innagural service at First Baptist on Nov. 15. Goderich First Baptist welcomes new pastor Donny Scott signal -star staff Goderich's First Baptist Church is under new guid- ance, with the arrival and in- stallation of pastor Rod Gau- thier. Gauthier, who until recently was a pastor in St. Catherines, explained that he is somewhat familiar with Goderich, hav- ing worked at Camp Hermosa some years ago, and was glad to return to the area on a more permanent basis. Trained at Tyndale Univer- sity and College Seminary, in Toronto, Gauthier moved his family to Goderich earlier in the year to prepare for taking over pastoral duties at First Baptist, and says that things are going to change, but it may be awhile before those outside the congregation no- tice it. "We'll be having Advent services from here on out, so there's no change there," he said. "The changes will be in- ternal at first, and any direc- tions we go will be seen out- side later." Gauthier is looking forward to getting to know Goderich, and getting to know the peo- ple both in his congregation and in the town. "It's a beautiful place, and my family and I are looking forward to seeing what God- erich has to offer," he said. Gauthier and his family spent 10 years at his last po- sition in St. Catherines, and plans on staying in Goderich as long as he • can. "I have no idea how long 1'11 be here," he said. "But we want to stay put for awhile, and Goderich is a great place. We like longer stays as well." Anyone interested in the First Baptist Church can visa them at 39 Montreal Street, or call 519-524-9049.
