The mouse -clicks are racking up, and the
Goderich community has wasted no time
plunging into the Aviva Community Fund
online competition.
As round two ended last week, more than
2,586 votes had been cast toward area 'ideas'
for community betterment.
Six local projects have popped -up in the
challenge, including an updated septic system
at Camp Hermosa, a new bus for Rural
Response for Healthy Children's T.H.E Bus
toy and resource mobile lending library, and
ongoing installments of the California-based
Challenge Day at GDCI.
Recent 'ideas' to the mix come courtesy of
Robert Budd and Frank Gardiner. Budd is one
of a group of volunteers with an interest in
establishing an equine therapy program for
those with disabilities. Gardiner hopes to see
funding for the volunteer -driven Team CDN
Dash for Diabetes.
Leading the way in votes cast during round
two was GDCI's student -spurred quest for
an updated sound and lighting system— with
1,088 community clicks. Round three of has

now begun and vote counters have been reset,
though new ideas are still welcome.
They're all part of the Aviva Community
Fund online competition. Aviva, a Canadian
Insurance company, has allotted $500,000
to fund projects that will be judged on
community impact, likelihood of success,
longevity and sustainability, originality and
submission quality.
Anyone registered with the Aviva
Community Fund can vote for their favourite
idea by visiting www.avivacommunityfund.
org. The top 25 ideas will move on to the
judging phase, when a team of impartial
judges will score the ideas, and the highest
ranked ideas will be funded.
Visit the competition web site, register with
an e-mail address and search for Goderich.
You can return every day and re -cast your
vote.
The first phase of three 'opening rounds'
comes to a close Nov. 29, when the top
submissions will move on for phase two
voting from Dec. 2 to 16. The final round with
impartial judging will take place from Dec.
17 through Jan. 25, after which the top ideas
will receive funding.
