Goderich to wartime unity David Yates special to the signal -star All that remains of His Majesty's Canadian Ship Goderich is her brass bell that hangs mute in a corner of Legion Branch 109. Yet, it is a syr. colic tribute to the unity of the people of Goderich with its fighting services during wartime. A spirit of unity that is almost inconceivable today. The HMCS Goderich was one of over 50 Bangor class minesweepers commissioned for the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. When it was learned that a naval vessel was to be named `God- erich,' the town enthusiastically rallied to support its namesake. Monday afternoon, the Health Unit said it would have to cancel scheduled clinics in Exeter and Wingham this week after the last of its available 9,000 doses of the vaccine were used up. "We will reschedule clinics as we learn more from the Ontario Ministry of Health this week," said chief medi- cal officer Dr. Nancy Cameron. The province -wide vaccine shortage has made clinic scheduling a moving target. Last Friday, Cameron said the unit was unsure whether or not they had enough vaccine coming to open clinics up to the general public. "Clinics across Huron remain high- priority only at the moment," Cameron said Friday. General public clinics in Goderich have been tentatively scheduled to begin Nov. 16 at the Suncoast Mall, however, Cameron added that the health unit is waiting on direction from the Ministry of Health and Long Term SURFER 15M_HIGH SPEED INTERNET when bundled with v:ui T'r $2495.•...irsrnEASTL1NTf 1.877.482.9233 See MINISTRY, Page 8
