in St. Marys girls tournament
The Goderich Sailorettes played an im-
pressive three games of fast-moving hock-
ey in last weekend's St. Marys Midget
Girls' Tournament, taking silver after a 2-1
loss to the home team.
On Friday night, the Sailorettes won a
3-1 victory over the Kitchener Lady Rang-
ers. In the opening seconds of the game,
Kelsa Curran scored Goderich's first goal
with an assist from forward Julia Huber.
In the second period, Jacqueline Martin
and Kristin McColl set up Michelle Cur-
ran's goal from the slot. Kelsa scored the
final Goderich goal with help from Martin
and Shayla Mathers.
Saturday morning's game against South
Huron was a scoreless thriller as neither
side could get past incredible defence
work. Jessica Yates earned the shutout.
In the final game of the tournament, the
Sailorettes were edged 2-1 by St. Marys
After two scoreless periods, St. Marys was
able to score twice. Kelsa Curran scored
the only Goderich goal on a pass from Ju-

Bantam girls winless early in season
The Knights of Columbus Bantam
Sailorettes have hit the ice with a busy
schedule the past two weeks. The girls
took on Wilmot Oct. 17, ending in a 4-2
loss.
Wilmot was first on board with a goal,
but one minute later, Kate -Lynn Skinner
took a hand-off from Callie Vance and
Jordon Murray and hammered the puck
home.
Taylor Hulley added Goderich's sec-
ond goal, assisted by Ashley Pritchard
and Jessica Hastie.

against a tough Sarnia team who beat
them 3-0 before heading back to Goder-
ich for a 2-1 loss to Woolwich.
Candace Cunningham scored God-
erich's lone goal, assisted by Jordan
McWhinney.
Netminder Lauren German kept the
Sailorettes in the game with some key
saves but unfortunately a wicked wrist -
shot snuck past her and Woolwich
squeaked by with the win.
