Construction of the new Goder-
ich Town Hall is moving ahead on -
schedule and very nearly on -budget,
according to architect Alan Avis.
At the October 26 sitting of God-
erich Town Council, Avis brought
councillors and town staff up to date
on the progress of the new munici-
pal offices, located beside the old
town hall on West Street.
"Bronnenco has a small army
over there to go through this last
stretch," Avis told council.
Seventy-three per cent of the $4.3,
million dollar project has been paid"
out already, and Avis said .the over-
expenditure to date has been well-
contained, sitting at $873 due to
change orders.
"The project carries on on sdd-
ule and pretty much on budget," he
said.
The glass foyer has now been
installed and Avis said the type of
glass used will be allow for heating
and cooling benefits.
The addition of an emergency
power generator added some last-
minute costs to the project, howev-
er, the generator is funded through
reserve funds mainly, and has little
impact on the final figure for the
town hall building.
By mid-November, Avis said ex-
terior work should be near -finished
and the geo-thermal heating and
cooling system ready to go.
He said he expected the

December 18 is the scheduled
performance date for the town hall,
though there is expected carry-over
work such as repairing paint scratch-
es and other finishing touches.
Council commended Avis and the
contractors working on the building
for a job well done, and within time
frame. In 2010, all municipal build-
ings are required to be completely
accessible.
The building should be up and
running at full capacity by mid-
January.
