The West region, consisting of Goderich Public, Holmesville, Colborne and Brookside took the team awards. Goderich had some big finishers, including a first place by Emily Evans in nine-year-old girls' and a second-third combination in the 10 -year- old race, courtesy of Chloe Field and Megan Johnston. Payten Lang and Jessica Hastle took second in 11 and 13 -year-old girls' respectively. In the boys' races, Brady Gerber secured third in 9 -year-old action while Jared Baker and Matthew Bean each took fourth in 11 and nine-year-old categories. Brandon Johnston completes a rainy run. on-line: www.goderichsignalstar.com Photo by Sarah McDonald Victory on the pitch The Goderich District Collegiate Institute Vikings continued their dominance in Huron -Perth field hockey last week, with a 2-0 against St. Anne's and 1-0 victory over Stratford Northwestern. The girls faced South Huron Monday for the Huron - Perth championship. Results were unavailable as of press time however, the Vikes play host to the Western Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association playoffs Thursday, October 29. Goderich men's basketball starting un in high school m Time to put away the cleats and get out the shorts and sneakers - Goderich Men's Pickup Basketball has begun for another season. According to organizer, Wes Morley; this is the second year for pickup basket- ball, which began last week and continues to the end of March. Games take place every Monday at God- erich District Collegiate Institute in the west gym. Game time is 8 p.m. "It's open to any players who want to come out and play," Morley said. "Last year, we usually got enough for five -on - five." The cost to play is $5 a night, and Mor- ley said so long as there are 10 players any given night, participants can expect a full game.
