Cultural Symposium hopes to forecast art group in Huron
Are you interestedin the future
of arts, culture and heritage in Hu-
ron County? Have your opinion
heard at the first Huron County
Cultural Symposium on Saturday,
November 7.
The main focus of the Sympo-
sium will be to look at various
models of arts and cultural collec-
tives: arts councils, municipal ad-
visory committees, and other ex-
amples of successful arts, culture
and heritage organizations, and
discuss which of these models, if
any, we as a community might be
interested in establishing in Huron
County.
Held at the Lower Hall of the
Blyth Centre for the Arts, from
9 a.m. - 4 p.m., the Symposium
will be facilitated by Sonja Erstic,
from the Ministry of Culture, and
Rick Sickinger, Coordinator for
Heritage and Culture Partnership.
The morning session will fea-
ture three guest speakers: Anne
Frost from the Grey/Bruce Cul -

Arts and Cultural Council. They
will each present how their mod-
els work to provide further under-
standing of different approaches
that should be considered for the
creation of a similar collective in
Huron County.
The afternoon session will focus
on visioning what a Huron County
arts and cultural collective might
look like, measuring the level of
interest from the community in
establishing a collective, and what
the next steps are in establishing
the arts collective en -
Harvest Lunch
Bernice Dekker and Jenny Schmidt serve up some great
home -cooked items during First Baptist Church's Harvest
Luncheon on Saturday. Approximately 150 people visited
the church's basement to take home baked goods, or sit
down for a home -style meal.

heritage assets in the

of an arts, culture and

networking and pro-
fessional develop-
ment opportunities
for the sector.
Anyone actively
involved or who has
an interest in arts,
culture or heritage in
the County is invited
to attend. We would
love direction and
input from all sectors
of the community to
help shape the path
and development of
new initiatives for
arts and culture in
Huron County.
The cost if free to
participate in the Cul-
tural Symposium, but
there will be a $1O fee
for lunch.
