Vikes take consolation finals at field hockey tournament
The Viking Field hockey team had a finalists
strong weekend finishing as consolation nament
in the Duckie Invitational Tour -
held at Waterloo -Oxford. The
blue and white lost to
Elmira District and
Oakville Trafalgar,
but rebounded to de-
feat St. Anne's,
Waterloo -Oxford,
and Cambridge's
Cameron Heights
all by identical 1-0
scores. The win

placed the Vikings in the final against Ja-
cob Hespeler. The teams ended regulation
tied, and moved to penalty strokes. In the
extra frame, the Vikes lost 3-2, although
keeper Taylor Hulley made several key
stops in her first shoot-out as a Viking.
Kaity Peters, Danielle Meriam, Alison
Bedard, Jenna Pentland and Keisha Stod-
dart earned the goals throughout the day.
Earlier in the week GDCI kept their reg-
ular season undefeated streak alive with a
pair of victories in Mitchell on Wednesday.
Against St. Mary's Jenna Pentland paced
the attack with a pair of goals in a 5-0 win,
with singles from Robin Hendriks, Kelsey
Dougherty and Rachel Shepherd. Kaity
Peters and Keisha Stoddart each scored
twice and Danielle Meriam and Michelle
Kelly each added singles in a 6-0 win over
Mitchell.
The Vikings travel to St. Anne's Wednes-
day to face St.Anne's and Stratford North-
western.

6:30 p.m. and will
continue until Mon-
day, November 16.
The season begins
with a five-week
skills camp which
will branch out into
a schedule of games
and tournaments for
selected age groups.
