TOWN OF GODERICH
BIOSOUDS MASTER PLAN (WATER POLUTION CONTROL PLAN)
NOTICE OF COMMENCEMENT
STUDY FRAMEWORK:
The Town of Goderich has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment
(Class EA) to develop a Biosolids Disposal Master Plan for the municipal Water
Pollution Control Plant. The Master Plan study process is being carried out to identify
a comprehensive, long-term strategy for the disposal of sewage biosolids material
generated at the WPCP.
The Town currently transports biosolids from the WPCP to the Mid -Huron Landfill facility
for disposal. As this facility is scheduled for closure in January 2011, the Town has
commenced a Master Plan study to investigate potentia! alternatives for treatment and
disposal. A range of potential disposal options are being considered as pail of this
project, including the following alternatives: redirecting sludge material to another
landfill facility; upgrading the existing sewage plant to process sludge into organic
biosolids for land use application; sludge material to a another biosolids management
facility for processing and disposal.
In the following months, the Town will evaluate all viable alternatives, taking into
consideration factors such as potential environmental impacts, technical complexity
and cost. When completed, the study will recommend the most effective strategy
for handling biosolids from the Goderich WPCP upon the closure of the Mid -Huron
Landfill.
THE MASTER PLAN PROCESS:
The project is following the planning process set out for Master Plans under the Class
EA document. Master Plan investigations incorporate, at a minimum, a screening
process that involves consultation with the public, stakeholders and government review
agencies. The purpose of the screening process is to identify potential environmental
impacts associated with the proposed works and to plan for appropriate mitigation.
PUBUC INVOLVEMENT:
Public input and comment are invited for incorporation into the Master Plan at this initial
stage of the study. Please forward comments by November 21, 2009 to the Project
Engineer: B.M. Ross and Associates, 62 North Street, Goderich, Ontario, N7A 2T4.
Telephone (519) 524-2641.
Attention: Mike Corby, Planner (e-mail: mcorby@bmross.net).

The Goderich PeeWee Rep Sailors
started off their regular season well Oc-
tober 15 with a 6 - 2 victory over the
Walkerton Capitals. The team worked
hard in the first period, with Kyle Lan-
glois scoring the first goal of the game
unassisted.
In the second period, increased pres-
sure by the Capitals made the Sailors
step it up a notch, with Chase Kulich
and Stephen De Jager both contribut-
ing a goal. At 3:05 left in the second,
a fluke goal by Walkerton made it 3 - 1
Sailors heading into the third.
The third period saw one more goal
by Walkerton, but the Sailors came
back strong. Langlois banked his sec-
ond of the night, along with goals by
Ian Simpson and Evan Guest, for a 6 -2
win. Simpson, De Jager, Ethan Lajeu-
nesse, Nick Souch, Jarred Bakker, Ry-
lan Lamb, and Mason Nurse all contrib-
uted assists during the game.
The Sailors had another big win on
Oct. 17 in Port Elgin against the Sau-
geen Shores Storm. Outstanding goal-
tending by Branden Bean pushed the
Sailors on to victory. The Storm opened
up the scoring in the first period taking
the lead, 1 - 0. Simpson tied it up for
the Sailors, but a few seconds later the
Storm answered back with yet another
goal, making it 2 - 1 Saugeen Shores.
The second period saw edge -of -your -
seat, end to end action with great pen-
alty killing by the Sailors on the only
penalty of the game. With 3.3 seconds
left in the second period, defenceman
Mason Nurse let one go from the blue
line and tied the game up 2 - 2.
The third period was excitement from
start to finish. Two minutes into the pe-
riod, Simpson contributed his second
goal of the night to put the Sailors up
3 - 2. Bean held his team in the game
making several spectacular glove and
pad saves, and the Sailors held on for
the win.
In their third regular season game on
Sunday, October 18, the Pee Wee Rep
Sailors lost a hard-fought battle to the
Listowel Cyclones. There was no scor-
ing in the first period, but Jordan John-
son was impressive in net as he fought
off the Cyclones' constant pressure.
The Sailors opened up the scoring in
the second period with a goal by Jarred
Bakker, assisted by Chase Kulich.
While on the power play, Listowel was
able to tie the game up, then shortly af-
ter scored one more to go ahead 2 = 1.
The third period saw lots of frantic ac-
tion and the Cyclones scored a couple
of more goals at the end of the third for
a final score of 4 - 1 Listowel.
