The Sailors Ben Gowing narrowed the deficit to two goals, converting a pass from Scott Miller and Ja- mie Miller just five minutes into the final period, but that was as close as Goderich would get. Brian . Hainsworth turned aside 34 of the 35 Sailors' shots and Shawn Gethke faced 27 shots in the Goder- ich net. Goderich was as- sessed 30 minutes in penalties on seven infractions while Kin- cardine racked' up 26 minutes in the penalty box on nine infrac- tions. Scott Miller, with an un- assisted effort just five min- utes into the game and Ja- mie Miller with a goal from Brendan Thomson and Brett McGuiness late in the first period, staked Goderich to an early two -goal lead. The Ironmen got right back in the game with a goal in the opening minute of the second period by Brandon Chafe and then Greg Tiffin con- verted a pass from Chaffe late in the period to tie the game 2-2. With Dean Reynolds off for interference in the open- ing minute of the final period, Wmgham scored what proved to be the winning goal with Chaffe scoring his second goal of the game.
