Pirates take home opener against Clinton Radars The Goderich Pirates started the season on a winning note beating the Clinton Ra- dars 5-4 in front of packed crowd at the Memorial Arena Saturday night. The Pirates came out flying, scoring ► wo ,goals in the first five minutes of the game but the Radars evened up the score with a pair of their own, ending the first period 2-2. Goal scorers for the Pirates were fan Gould assisted by Dillon Stokes and Dave Meriam assisted by Sean Burton. The second period played out the same as the first, with both teams scoring a pair of goals. Goderich markers were put in by Stokes assisted by Scott Jamieson and Matt MacPhee and Dave Little assisted by Curtis Muxlow. The third period was back -and -forth with the Pirates outshooting the Radars 17- 16. That one extra shot in the third made all the difference with Little getting the game winner and his second goal of the night. Asissting on the goal was Stokes with his third point of the night and Mike Gillen. Getting the win in net was Brad Powell who stopped 41 of the 45 shots he faced. Up next for the Pirates are the new and improved Thedford Dirty Dogs, who beat Milverton the same night.
