The Pirates play host to the Clinton Ra- dars at 7:30 p.m. at the Memorial arena. Following the game is the traditional Pi- rates' dance. Admission is free. In preseason action. the Pirates took a strong 12-3 win over the Radars, followed by two losses to Saugeen Shores.The `AA' Winterhawks beat the Pirates 8-3 and 8-1. Scoring for Goderich were newcomer Shawn Fishback, Josh Liddle and Dave Meriam. General manager Trevor Bazinet said the team will be holding a special com- munity skate the day before their regular season opener, raising money for the Kids' Booster Club. "For the people who don't want to go out on the ice, even if they stop by and make a donation, that's great?' he said. "We're out to make as much money as possible for the booster club." He said the idea for the fundraising skate came from long-time Pirates spon- sors Herb and Sherry Marshall. Bazinet encouraged hockey fans of all ages to come out and skate, adding they will have the opportunity to test their shots against the Pirates' goaltenders. "We'll have a couple.goalies suited up so if they want to take some shots at a Pi- rates goalie they can," he said. "All they have to d� is make a donation." The skate runs from 8 - 9:30 p.m. at the MRC, and Bazinet said there will be plenty of opportunities to get to know this year's Pirates, as well as alumni and fami- lies. London Knights tickets and a 50/50 draw will available to one lucky winner as well. Bazinet said he hopes to make Skate with the Pirates an annual event.
