The Goderich native is currently the WPK intercontinental champ. Fowler seeking welterweight championship in Oct. 17 bout Goderich native Brad Fowler is getting ready for his second run at the World Professional Kick- boxing title on October 17 in Burlington, and he wants your support. Fowler has had his sights set on the world wel- terweight championship ever since his fifth -round technical knockout against Mexican fighter Ben Acosta on May 2. It won't be his first attempt at the title. Fowler's first attempt at the championship resulted in a close -fought loss to Chris Algerie. In his second attempt, Fowler - now the intercontinental cham- pion - will take on Fernando Calleros of New Mexico. Calleros is currently the Welterweight World Champion. Fowler is preparing for the match by training under former world champion Leo Loucks. Other bouts at the event include Canadian Mu- zammal Nawaz trying to take the title of Interna- tional Kickboxing Federation World Light Middle- weight Champion from American striker Anthony "Powerhouse" Bar- tinelli. Fans of Fowler and local kickbox- ing enthusiasts can show their support for the home -town - hitter by going. to his match.
