Splash N' Boots, a Canadian children's entertainment duo, have added three coun- ty dates to their tour list and are expected to hit Goderich on October 31. The event is a different approach than the regular RRHC fare. Each October, the organization hosts its main fundrais- ing event, the Teddy Bear Dream Auction, when hundreds of community businesses and individuals come together annually to lend their support to the Huron County initiative that aims to promote the well- being and healthy development of young children and families. This year though, RRHC has recognized the need for many to tighten their purse -strings as many throughout the area have been effected by a tough economic climate. "We have decided to have a rest this year," said RRHC Program Manager Dor- othy Beuermann. "We took a look at the economic climate and everything going on in the community, and the amount of support businesses are lending to different organizations and it was decided that this year, we'd get down to our basics— serving our families and community and provide an entertainment event." Cue Boot's N' Splash, a family -friendly musical pair that have been steadily tak- ing the word of children's entertainment by storm, recently being dubbed children's music group of the year in 2009, and even "the U2 of children's entertainment." "It's an event that we thought represent- ed our mandate, to bring people and fami- lies together," Beuermann said. The duo are set to perform two evening engagements Oct. 29 and 30 in Exeter and Wingham, followed by an afternoon mati- nee in Goderich on Oct. 31. The free event, Beuermann said, has garnered sponsorship from faithful RRHC supporters through the county, and she added that donations to the organization are still welcome. 2009 would have marked the 21st an- nual Teddy Bear Dream. Auction for the county, but Beuermann was quick to point out that its absence isn't permanent. "We're not saying it's the end," she said. "We just want everybody - our volunteers, sponsors and families - to sit back and en- joy this year." Splash N' Boots will make stops at Ex- eter Public School Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m., and Wingham's F.E. Madill on Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. The pair will perform in Goder- ich at the Goderich District Collegiate In- stitute (GDCI) on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. For this special matinee event, parents and children are encour- aged to come decked out in their Hallow- een costumes.
