Youth film program debuts soon
Denny Scott

Aspiring young filmmakers are about to bq given a step
in the right direction thanks to a new Engaging Huron's
Youth in Arts and Culture (EHYAC) project.
EHYAC is putting together a program that follows film-
making from idea creation, through writing, filming, edit-
ing, and on to presentation. Similar events for young mu-
sicians and composers were held earlier in the summer,
"It's a really exciting project," said project head Brittany
Fry. "The program is great because it covers the entire
county."
The program begins on October 6 at Clinton's Town
Hall, and runs from 7 p.m. through 9 p.m.
The first three sessions will deal with idea creation and
script writing. After that, filming and editing will take
place, and the project will culminate with a gala unveiling
of their movies.
The free program will produce not only the show on
the big -screen, but will also provide each particpant with a
DVD of the final project.
Open to participants aged 13 to 20 years -of -age, the
project doesn't force all members of the film team to go to
all aspects of the project. If actors are not interested in sto-
ry development, or if individuals only want to film, they
can solely attend those sessions. They just need to contact
Fry regarding their wishes.
Featuring local professionals scriptwriter Paul Ciufo,
novelist Rick Hundey, director and cinematographer Isaac
Elliot -Fisher, and Randal Lobb and Mark Hussey of Faux -
Pop, an online multimedia outlet, the project youth have
plenty of mentoring experience to draw on.
Editing will be performed at Godierch District Second-
ary School.
Some participants have already signed up, and Fry said
with an October 5 deadline, interested filmmakers, writ-
ers, and actors need to express their intent soon.
Fry can be contacted at 519-482-5457 extension 8, or
bfry@huroncounty.ca to sign up. Facebook users can also
sign up- through the group entitled "Engaging Huron's
Youth in Arts and Culture,"
