The 29th annual Terry Fox Run was
marked by beautiful weather and enthusiastic
participants in Goderich, according to event
organizer Monique Sykes.
The sunny skies of Sept. 13 provided the
setting for the annual run for cancer research
that took 36 area participants along a marked
course on the outskirts of Goderich, and all
told, the event raised a cool $2,900.
"It was a great day all around," said Sykes.
"It went really well and we're hoping to get a
few more people out next year, too."
The Goderich nm is executed annual-
ly thanks to the efforts of the Goderich Ki-
nettes. This year, community sponsors like
Lithwaite Apple Park, Zehrs, Food Basics,
Pk_ :a Hut and Tim Hortons handed over sup-
plies and refreshments, which meant that all
proceeds from the run were sent directly to the
Terry Fox Foundation. The Goderich District
Collegiate Institute even got in on the cause,
as student volunteers showed up to lend sup-
port. Both ninners and cyclists, individually
and as groups, took to the course, and even a
few canine companions, too.
The Terry Fox Run is a September staple,
always taking place on the second Sunday
after Labour Day. Area elementary schools
are doing their part as well, with most hosting
their own Terry Fox Run's for students this
week.
