Located at the Maitland Golf and Country Club, the dining lounge offers cuisine to both country club members and the public at large, and offers its hall for meetings, as well as catered events. Elmore, originally from the Peterborough area, said that his purchase was inspired by a few different changes in his life. A trained chef, Elmore had been running a restaurant in Grand Bend until an unfortu- nate fire burnt the building to the ground. The owners decided not to rebuild leaving him with the opportu- nity to pursue other options. Friends of his told him that the restaurant at the country club was for sale, and he decided to jump on it. "I love cooking, so it was a natural connection. I went to college for cooking, and I've been doing it for 30 years," he said. "I really can't see myself doing any- thing else." Elmore explains that he is really taking the restau- rant as a fresh start. "We've changed the hours, and we're trying to of- fer people what they want to come here," he said. "It's going to be a year-round operation, but the hours may change in the winter due to demand." Elmore opened the restaurant on April 4, and he says that things have been going wonderful so far. "We've had a great response from the golfers, and we've operated the barbecue on the course whenever possible... They've been great, even coming in when they aren't golfing." Without previous numbers to compare to, Elmore said he believes that the turnout so far has been great, and credits the patrons, guests, and visitors of the country club for the good business. "We want to get the word out though, we're not just for golfers, tennis players, and curlers," he said. "We're open to the public, and we've got a beautiful rental hall that's available for all kind of events, Christmas parties, seminars, or office meetings. Whatever you need it for."
