. Sunday, September 20 will
serve. as a day of remembrance
in Goderich, as the Decoration
Day ceremony will pay tribute
to Canadian veterans, past and
present.
"Decoration Day honours fall-
en soldiers and al$o those in the
military forces," said air force
and Royal Canadian Mounted
Police veteran and emcee for the
ceremony, Hudson Milburn. "It is
to remember the men and women
who died." •
The ceremony takes place at
the veteran's plot in the Maitland
Cemetery at 2 p.m. and Milburn
said the public is invited to share
the experience alongside veter-
ans and their families. .
The Legion colour guard will
be present for the ceremony and
Milburn said as many veterans
that can march will do so before
the decorating of the headstones
begins.
"Every veteran's plot in the
cemetery has a Canadian flag
stuck by the headstone," he said.
"As well as all the veterans' plots
in the veterans' cemetery."
While Remembrance Day pays
tribute to those who fought and
died in war, Decoration Day hon-
ours all veterans, whether they
died overseas in combat, training
or peacefully at home.
"The Veterans' plot has graves
of vets who die naturally, not as
an act of war," he said. "The Mai-
tland cemetery also has graves of
four or five members of the Roy-
al Airforce in England, who died
during training exercises in Port
Albert."
All, he said, will be decorated
with Canadian flags.
As with the Remembrance Day
ceremony, Milburn said veter-
ans and the public are invited to
