The Dungannon Village in Bloom for 2009
winners have been announced. This is an ini-
tiative sponsored by the Revitalization of Dun-
gannon, engaging village residents and busi-
nesses in the care of their community. In the
Flower Garden category, Barb and Mike Mc-

well when its citizens step up and take their re-
sponsibilities for a vital community seriously.
Thank you to the Revitalization of Dungannon
Committee for their ongoing commitment to a
better community.
It is time for the CGIT to start their new
year. The first meeting will be Monday Sept.
14, starting time 6:30 p.m. and held at 84
Southampton Street, Dungannon. This first
meeting will consist of a campfire, hotdogs
and playing games. Follow-up meetings will
be held at the Dungannon United Church ev-
ery Monday evening at 7 p.m. All girls ages
11 to 17 are welcomed. For further informa-
tion you can contact Debbie Patterson -Smith
at 519-529-7118.
The Western Ontario Log Sawing Champi-
onship was held August 22 at the Teeswater
Fair. Local competitor Shag Campbell was
there and can still hold his own. For a first
place finish Shag Campbell and Dennis McG-
lynn cut a nine -inch square basswood log in
9.1 seconds. Shag teamed up with Michelle
Southwell of Kitchener and cut a nine -inch
basswood in 19.4 for third place. In the chain-
saw competition, Denniw McGlynn cut nine
inches in 1.3 seconds Shag came in second
with 1.5 seconds. Congratulations Shag. Well
done.
Saturday September 5 marks the final week
for the Dungannon Farmer's Market. By all
indications everyone had a successful year
and I hope plans are for it continuing again
next summer. You have one last chance to
get in on some great deals and shop as local
as it gets. The vendors are there from 9 a.m.
until 11:30 a.m. Please come out and support
their efforts. Congratulations to everyone who
made it such a great season.
I would like to welcome Andrew to the Be-
tween the Sheets writing group. The group
meets each Monday at 1 p.m.at the Goderich
Library. All genres and levels of expertise are
welcome. For more information please call

Recently in euchre: High white card Clar-
ence Allin with 73, second place was George
Errington with 69. High pink card Bonnie
Cronin with 95 and second was Rieta Har-
ris with 72. Marina Park, John Andrews and
Jay McColl tied with three lone hands each.
High white card was Gordon Dadson with 75,
Tom Young came second with 69. High pink
was Lillian Walters with 70 and second was
Norine Park with 68. Grace Finnegan, Dave
Sproul and Jewel Plunkett tied with four lone
hands. With five tables, high white card was
Dave Sproul with 78 and Jay McColl had 73.
Margaret Young had 74 and Jean Errington
had 71. With four lone hands. each, Adeline
Allin and Clarence Allin tied.
I don't have anything else this time around,
a clear indication that it's time to pack up my
tea bags and move on.
