Close call for single car collision What was initially thought to be a potentially devas- tating collision on Aug. 26 turned out to have serious consequences but not life threatening. At approximately 5:45 p.m. a vehicle was travelling eastbound on -Blyth Road approximately 1 km east of Hwy 21. The vehicle was being driven by a 17 -year- old Huron East girl whose mother and younger sis- ter were passengers. A motorist traveling behind the car watched as the left rear tire popped off the car and bounced into the field. The driver attempted to contrpl the car but was unable. Police seize $5.5' million in pot in B elgrave Three people appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich Monday fol- lowing a Belgrave-area marijuana -• bust worth an estimated $5.5 million. On Aug. 26 members of the Ontario Pro- vincial Police Organized Crime Enforce- ment Bureau — Drug Enforcement Unit, Western Region Emergency Response Team, Western Region Canine Unit and Huron OPP Crime Unit conducted a joint forces drug eradication program in the Hu- ron County area. As a result, an address located at 85043 Marnoch Line in the Municipality of North Huron was identified to have a large outdoor marl ;, uana grow present. A. search warrant was sought and executed on August 27. Police located cannabis marihuana plants worth an estimated street value of $5.5 mil- lion dollars. Police also seized items relat- ed to the production of cannabis marihuana from the residence. A 43 -year-old North Huron resident, 76 -year-old North York resident and a 33 -year-old Scarborough resident are charged with Production of Cannabis Mari- huana and Possession of Cannabis Mari- huana for the Purpose .of Trafficking. All three persons appeared at bail hear- ings on August 31. THAT'S THE LAW! Also, when you are following a school bus that is approaching a railway crossing, the bus is required by law to STOP. Be prepared.
