GST & PST Included BCHOOL DAYS It's back to school time in Huron County, and while students may be wondering just where the summer went, September 1 ushered in the start of school. Five-year-old Lauren Kennerly of Burgesville was at the Goderich Li- brary while winding down her holi- days with her grandparents. She said she is already working on getting back into school mode. "I'm practicing my ABCs at home," she said. "And practicing writing my letters." However, she is still coming off the excitement of a summer well -spent, including a trip to Toronto and Exhi- bition Place. "It was the biggest fair ever!" she said. She said her favourite part of school is playtime, and house is her game of choice. She said she likes her teacher Mrs. Belcome because "1 like her toenails and their colour." The Grade 6 student at St. Mary's School said his favourite subjects are math and art. He said he's going to use the first two weeks of school to use up his old supplies before heading to the city for bags, books and binders. Among the first students to be head- ing to GDCI this fall, Campbell said he is a fan of gym and art class and that he looks forward to meeting new people as he enters Grade 7 in the combined school. As enjoyable as school is, nothing beats a good vacation, Hamlin noted. "It was a really great summer," he said. "I'm looking forward to next summer." Seafbrth 519-527-0305 EMPLOYMENT ONTARIO Employment Onlilb Mpert bythe For Grade 8 students Hannah Lester and Lauren Brewster, this school year is full of axious excitement, as the pair enter the halls of Goderich District Col- legiate Institute for the first time as stu- dents of Goderich Public School. "I'm kind of nervous," Lester said. "We didn't know who our teachers would be and we'll be going to high school even though we're GPS." "It's kinda cool," Brewster added. "We'll be the first graduating class of Goderich Public School." While Brewster said it will be weird to be in with all the older students, she is looking forward to meeting new peo- ple. Lester said it will help getting to know the school before starting Grade 9 next year. Preparing for this year, both girls took a different approach. Brewster said all she's gotten so far are her school clothes, while Lester, admittedly, prepared for anything and everything. "I've got two pencil cases full of stuff," she said. But we don't need binders or locks - the school is getting that." Of course, she said, no matter what supplies you have, the best thing to go to school with is a good outlook. "Go in with a positive attitude," she said. "And everything seems to work out."
