was suddeely stricken with paralysis,•
Mr. Connell passed away on Sunday
morning.

Hospital will be held in the Council

staff at Georgetown. is home on sick

Road, has bought the old barber shop
and moved it away on Saturday.
The high water and break up of the
ice so unusual at this season of the
year caused a good deal of trouble at
the dam on Thursday and Fridayhights.
Miss Agnes Gannett, who has been
visiting with Mr, and Mrs. Philip
Thomas, left last week for Fairfield,
Ohio, where she will re -side for some
time. '
Mrs. Robt, Lockhart; of Saskatche-
wan, and Pte. Albert Thomas, of the
116th Battalion at Woodstock, are this
week visiting with their parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Philip Thomas.
At the nieeting of the Literary
Society on Friday night of this Week a
debate will he held on the subject:
“Resolved, that fire is mote destructive
than water:" The affirmative will be
taken by Harvey Messer and Eldon
McKinney, the negative by Roy Thomp-
son and Harvey Haney. At this meet-
ing an address will be given by an old

Souris, Man. Mr J, W. King will talk
on "Current Events" and other in-
teresting musical and literary numbers

The death of John B. McDonald.
aged 87 years. occurred at his home in
Tiverton on Tuesday. Mr. McDonald
was born in the Isle of Tyree, Scotland.
When a young man he came to Canada
and settled in the village of Tiverton,
Where for 80 years he had continuously
resided, lie was a blacksmith by trade.,
but for a numb'er of years had lived
retired.
On Monday, January 24th. air. and
Mrs, A. D. Cameron, of Goderich, cele-
brated the fiftieth anniversary of their
marriage. On the eventful day, fifty
years ago, a sieighload drove from the
bride's home in Peru, Halton county
to 'Georgetown, a distance of about
fourteen miles, where 4Mr. and Mrs.
Ciimeron Were married by Rev, jos.
Uns Worth, Congregational Minister..
Mr. and Mrs. Catneron lived in West
Wawanosh for Many years previous to
moving to Goderich.

The death of 'Job Sellery, aged 79
years occurred at the Kincardine
General Hospital on January 28. Mr.
Sellery was born in Seotland and came -
Canada *hen six years of age. Over
60 years ago he became a resident of
Kincardine, and; in conjunction with
his father. conducted the first tannery
in Kincardine distriet. William Sellery,
of London; Rev. S. Sellery, of gapanee,
and Frank Seiler, are brothers. Mrs.
W. G. Temple, of Kinctirditie, is a
slater.
