He is sur- vived by bis widow and two small children. One of the most intelligent and promising men of Kinloss passed away on Saturday, Jany. 15th, viz., Williarr. Montgomery. He was a native of Ireland and after coming to Canada he taught school before going into farm- ing at Pine River on the place now owned by Mr. John Bell. Then he bought a farm in Kinloss where he has lived since. 11.,117e STOOK etanat1LT Toronto, Jany. 24 Union Stock Yards Receipts to -day, 118 cars, with 2,509 cattle, 91 calves, 659 hogs, and 178 sheep and lambs, There was a little drag to trade to- day, and except for the very choicest butcher cattle and choice heavy steers, which held steady with last week, the general average of prices would be about 10 cents lower. Several choice lots of heavy steers sold up to $8.10, and choice butcher from $7.50 to $7.75. But the medium and common butcher steers and heifers suffered from the generally easier tone of the market. Cows and bulls about steady. Choice veal calves were very firm and strong. , Choice lambs and light sheep steady to firm. There passed away at her home on Clinton St., Teeswater, on Friday, Jan- uary 14th, Mary Wighman Smith, relict of the late George Armstrong, after an illness of about two months' duration. Mrs. Armstrong was born in Kirkcud- brightshire, Scotland, in the year 1840. On the 10th of June, 1862 she was mar- ried to her late husband, who prede- ceased her on the 5th of June, 1913. Three years later she, with her husband and two children (Mrs. Craik and John) came to Canada, settling on the 10th con. Cuirass on the farm now occupied by Mr. W. Rome, and here were born to them two daughters, Mrs Alex. Mc- Gregor and Mrs. T. Goodfellow. They moved from this farm to Teeswater in • j 1898.
