BAPTIST CHURCH
Rev. A. J. Vining, pastor of College
St. Baptist Church, Toronto, will preach
in the Baptist Church here next Sunday.
PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Mission Band meets on Saturday
afternoon, January 8th, at 3.30 o'clock.
St. Andrew's Ladies' circle will meet
on Friday evening January 7th at
eight o'clock sharp.
Regular church service will be held
in St. Andrew's Presbyterian church
next Sabbath at lla.m. and 7p.m. The
pastor, Rev. D. Perrie, will preach
both morning and evening.
METHODIST CHURCH.

11 a.m. and 7 p.m. The pastor, Rev.

Mr, Horace Bennett left on Tuesday
for Hamilton where he has accepted a

Miss Vina Smith spent the New Year
holidays with Mrs. Wm. Lambe,
Kincardine.
Miss May McKague, of the Bank of
Nova Scotia, Toronto, was home for
the holidays.
Mrs. Wm. Bone was visiting for a
few days with relatives and old friends
in Georgetown.
Mrs. J. M. Robinson, of Neepawa,
Man. is visiting with relatives and old
friends in town.
Miss Pearl McKenzie, of Dungannon,
spent New Year's with Mr. and Mrs.
Jonathan Pattison.
Miss Letitia Robinson, spent New
Year's in Kincardine with her sister,
Mrs. Wm. Lamb.
Mr. Alex. Kelly, of Swift Current,
Sask., is visiting with old friends in
Wingham and district.
Mrs, Geo. Tervit and son Russel were
visiting for a few days with relatives
and friends in Guelph.
Mr. and Mrs, Burgman spent Christ-
mas at Park Hill, Mrs. Burgman re-
maining there a week.
Mr. T. A. Powell. of Ponteix, Sask.,
is visiting with relatives and friends in
Wingham and district.
Mrs. M. N. Armstrong spent New
Years at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T.
Davidson, St. Thomas.

Mrs. Chas. Donaldson.
Lieut. Doughty and Miss Burgman,
of Simcoe, spent New Year's with Mr.
and Mrs. W. F. Burgman.
Mr. John Hamilton, of Gibbert Plains,
Man., is home on a visit with relatives
and old friends in Wingham.
Miss. S. McVittie. of Toronto, has
taken a position as stenographer and
bookkeeper in the Times office.
Mrs. Thos. Lind and Miss Lind, of
High River, AIta., are visiting old
friends in Wingham and district.
Mr. and Mrs. Beattie, of Toronto,
spent the holidays with Mrs. Beattie's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Stapleton.
Mrs. Geo. M. Robertson and Miss
Jennie Shiell were visiting for a few
days with their sister, Mrs. Finlay at
Centralia.
Mr, and Mrs. J. H. Wilcox, of Essex,
were the guests of the former's uncle,
Mr. J. A. Mills, for a few days the
past week.
Mr. and Mrs. Cassels, of New Ham-
burg were visiting for a few days with
Mr. and Mrs. John Cochrane, East
Wawanosh.
Miss Jennie Weir, B. A. returned to
her home in London after spending the
vacation with her sister, Mrs. Wm. S.
Linklater, of Turnberry.
Miss. Irene Davis, who has been visit-
ing at her home here for the past week,
left on Monday to resume her duties
as teacher in Carleton Place.
Mr, and Mrs. A. M. Crawford left
of Monday afternoon for New York
where they will spend a few days at-
tending the big automobile show,
Me. E. W. Linklater, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. S. Linklater, returned to
Toronto on Monday to resume his duties
as assistant Principal in Niagara St.
school.
Mr. John Radford, who has been em-
ployed at the power house for some
time past, has accepted a position in
Goderich and left for that place on
Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fellman and
two children, of Toronto, spent a few
days this week the guests of Mr. and
Mrs, A. E. Lloyd, on their return from

Old Clinton Boy Enlists

Canadian Courier and son of Mrs, Wm.
Cooper, of Clinton, h as enlisted Ile
has been previously appointed Captain

minent citizens of Hamiota, died on
New Years'day.
-The store of the Morrish Clothing
Company at Clinton was badly damaged
by fire on Monday.
-Mr, Alex. Mewbray, of East
Wawanosh, near 'Zetland, has sold his
farm to Messrs. Coulter Bros.
-Assist the Ladies' Auxiliary to
Wingham General Hospital by attend-
ing the entertainment to be given in
the opera house next Monday evening
by the Lucknow .Dramatic Club.
-The Lucknow Dramatic Club will
put em the play, "Under two Flags" in
the opera house on Monday evening,
January 10th, under auspices of Ladies'
Auxiliary to Wingham General Hospital.

-Mr. John Musgrove, a wall -known
and highly esteemed resident of Turn -
berry went to Toronto last week to
undergo a serious operation, and we
understand he is doing as well as can
be expected. His brother. Mr. A. H.
Musgrove, M.P.P. accompanied him to
Toronto and is remaining with him.
Mr. Musgrove's numerous friends will
wish for a speedy return to good
health.
Death of Former Resident
Death came very suddenly to Mr.
John J. Homuth, a former well-known
resident of Wingham, at his home in
Toronto on Sunday morning last. He
had not been previously ill and dropped
dead. Mr. Homuth had been one of
Wingham's successful business men,
being first engaged in the tailoring and
boot and shoe business and later in the
general store business. He resided in
Wingham for many years and while
here served on the Public School Board
and in the Town Council. He was • an
active member of the Methodist Church
and was for some time a member of the
Official Board. Mr. Homuth was high-
ly esteemed by a large circle of friends
and the news of his death was received
here with deep regret. The bereaved
widow and family will have the sincere
sympathy of many old friends in Wing -
ham and district. Mr. Homuth was a
brother of Mr. August Homuth of this
town. The remains were brought to
Wingham on Wednesday and interment
was made in the family plot in the
Wingham cemetery.

Notice is hereby given that the above
named insolvent, David M. Miller of
the Township of Turnberry in the
County of Huron, Farmer, carrying on
business as farmer at the said Town-
ship of Turnberry, has made a assign-
ment of his estate to me for a general
benefit of his creditors under he Revised
Statutes of Ontario, chapt r 1734.
The Creditors are noti d to meet at
my office at the Villas of Wroxeter,
on the Fifteenth day January, A. D.
1916, at four o'cl in the afternoon
for the purpose of eceiving a state-
ment of the insolvent's affairs, for the
appointment of inspectors and the
giving of directions with reference to
the disposal of the estate.
Alt persons claiming to be entitled to
rank on the estate mustfile their claims
with me on or before the fourth day of
February, A. D., 1916, after which
date 1 will proceed to distribute the
assets thereof, having regard only to
those claims of which I shall then have
received notice, and I will not be liable
for the said assets or any part thereof
to any person of whose claim I have
not then received notice.
