Maitland bank cemetery, Seaforth;

The High School, Commencement
on Friday night of this week promis-
es to be especially interesting. Be-
sides a program of music and recita-
tions, Prof. H. R. Kingston, of West-
ern University, will give his now
famous adores on "The Wonderful

slides.. Diplomas, medals and Schol-
arships will be presented.

has 'been in a critical condition for

Senator- Wm. Prondfoot of Goder-
ich, underwent a serious operation at
Wellesley Hospital, Toronto, on Sun-

Mrs. Henry Reynolds had the mis-
fortune to fall while going down the
verandah steps breaking a small bone

Thomas J. Berry, one of the pio-
neer business men of Hensall, who
crossed the ocean between 30 and
40 times during his career as a horse
buyer and dealer, died at his home
Ion Thursday morning of last week,
in his 67th year after 'an illness of
several month's. He was well known
all over :Ontario for his activities in
the world of thoroughbred 'glydes-
dales, and his stables here were the
largest in the country. He is :sur-
vived by Mrs. Berry and. two sous,
Wilson: and Edward. The funeral
was held on Saturday tfaernoon last
to McTaggart's _ cemetery, under. the
Masonic auspices.

Miss 'Frances." Nickawa; the noted
Cree Iudian reciter appeared in the
Exeter Opera House on Friday even=
ing" last -under the auspices of the
'Young People of Main ,SI. church.
There was a big advanced sale of_re-
served seats but the rush seats` were
not 'as well filled. The large : aud-
ience were, more than delighted with
the excellent readings of Miss Nick-
awa, her interpretation of some .'of
Pauline, Johnston's. poems, especially
"The Cattle Thief" captivated'. the
house. Part of the program was giv-
en in Indian costume. ,-Miss LaBelle
Handford,, of Ingersoll, -and Mr. Ron-
ald Witwer, assisted with the pro-
gram, singing several solos that were
greatly appreciated.
The Salvaon Army gave a .musi-
eai entertainment in the Town Hall
Monday evening. There was a good
attendance and a fine program.
Mr. Ed. Harness who vas been at
Silverwoods " in London, for 'the past
couple of weeks candling eggs for
Mr. II. T. Powe, returned home on
Saturday last.
The friends of Mr. and Mrs. David
Gilbert, of McGill, -ray, sympathize
with them in the loss of their baby,
whose funeral was held Saturday to
..Brinsley cemetery.
The Annual Meeting of Ca*ven Sun-
day School was held at the home of
the Supt. Mr.' J. G. S;tanbury on Mon-
day evening.z A good report was re-

liament' at Exeter from Friday to

a very educational event, and can-
not speak too highly of the kind hos-
pitality shown by the Exeter people.
