land Troop, His Excellency has grant-
ed a Giltl•Cross. Adronlc'heard that a

man of the 8th Brantford Troop is to
receive the Boy Scout Gilt Cross for
Ms act in rescuing one of the boys of
his troop from drowning in a flooded
section' of the Grand River, The boy
had aceidentally fallen into the -river
wbile doing some af his Scout ,tests.
He could swim, but in an attempt to
remove a heavy sweater he was wear-
ing -at the time he got hl's arms tangled
in it when it was over -his head, ren-
dering him completely' helPless. Mr.
Bciwraan jumped into the river and af-
ter a stiff struggle against the current
brought the 'boy to satety.°•
Scout Richard Keene, age 12, ,Of ..the
10th Brantford Troop, has be -en aivard-
ed a Certificate of Merit aigned bY
Lord Byng feu his work in rescuing
two boys from drowning in a canal.'
Little personal risk was involved in
this rescue, bit s the Sedut's presence'
of mind and quick action nudoubtedly
Saved the boys' lives.
Scout Canniff Ashley, age 12, and
Scout Lorne Morton, age -14, of the 1st
Foxboro Troop, will receive Certifa.,
cates of Merit for their action in
rescuing a, companion from'drowning
in a stream near their tome. -

let Ridgetown Troop, saw a:little child
fall hit° a cesspool --while playing near
its home. The 'child was too young to
help itself and only. the quick adtien
of 'thee Scout was respans•ible for the

cate of Merit has been forwarded to
Scout Retell. „

pleted in Tokyo, Japan, and will be
used to support the aerial of a wire-
