C. E. Evans, B.A.; of St. Marys; conducted the services and preached two very excellent sermons. In the morning Mr. Evans took his text •from the 90th Psalm, verse 1: "Lord thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations." This alight bei•evised„ Lord, thou hast been the soul's home from age to age. It seems that the writer was moved by two great thoughts; on the one hand the littleness and frailty of ;human life, and on the, other the eternity of God. We are reminded that God is the one abiding fact of the universe. There is 'a `sense in which it may be said that every, individual roust paint his own picture, must form" his own conception of God. That is why ideas' differ, because no two think alike. God has been, referred to by many similies, the strong tower, the shield and bucker,' th springing` wat- er, the tree of life, but one of the very best fi ures of `speech i gs the text. The heart; or literature and the heart of politics is the home. Destroy the home and you destroy all institutions that are worth' while.. No individual has -the' right thought of God unless joy wells up in his Bath' when the name of God is spoken, said the speaker. There are many who shrink 'when the name of God is men- tioned. To some the word means little more than the name of some distant star. They would no ' more think of appealing to God than of taking hold of some live',wire. This is the result of sin. God is not an avenger. In this passage we have a • key that unlocks the mystery of our national 15ast,, of the Church's past and of the individual past. .We have in the Word some messages for. to -day. There are some who can See was'riding on the back of a Load. of God's doings in the past. There is wood and while driving into the no doubt that God is in the world to home of Mr. B. S.
