well as sanitary sewer services being completed.
It is the first of three such street projects being un-
dertaken by the town this summer.
"Once we get that done, we'll move over to Col-
borne," Wilson said. "I would hope that we can do that
within three weeks."
Colborne will require the same reconstruction and
water main, sanitary and stormsewer replacement as
South Street.
The third undertaking, St. David Street between
Victoria and Kingston, will only require full sanitary
sewer and water main replacement.
Meanwhile, gas lines are yet to be installed along
South Street while workers are waiting for the proper
approvals before commencing work.

Residents along South Street will soon be getting
some relief from the construction that has seen water
main and sewer line replacement along the stretch be-
tween Britannia and Blake Streets.
Public works manager for the Town of Goderich,
Chip Wilson, said the work should be done by the end
of this week.
"The water mains should be finished today," he said
last Thursday. "Then we have to do hook-ups for resi-
dents and fire hydrants."
Water services are being replaced up to residents'
property lines, though he said copper pipes larger than
5/8" will not be changed.
Overall, 420 feet of water main was replaced along

Healthofficials t
Cameron says she's hoping to
see a resurgence of interest in
the flu shot this year, both for the
seasonal influenza and the H 1 N 1
vaccines.
She says the Ministry of Health
is developing a communications
plan to send out to households
to get people thinking about flu
shots.
"Many of us don't have an im-
munity to this one," she says.
Continued from page 2.
Cameron says health officials
are closely watching the south-
ern hemisphere and Australia
in particular as they go through
their winter flu season right now
and are encouraged that while
H 1 N 1 is the predominant flu
strain being seen, the cases are
relatively mild.
"Maybe 20 per cent of the peo-
ple have been ill, much less than
the 30-35 per cent that has been
predicted during pandemic plan-
ning for .the last several years,"
she says. "Hopefully, we have
the same thing here. But, we're
certainly continuing planning
and we are prepared," she says.
Cameron says local hospitals
are also developing their pan-
demic plans and are in constant
communication with the health
unit.
"We don't want to be caught
off guard," she says.
