their fall wheat planting owing to
the rains.
Bert Gillespie returned home Sat-
urday after visiting for a couple of
weeks at Ripley.
A dance was held in McDonell's
Hall on Tuesday evening and was
fairly well attended.
The many friends of Mr. Jos. Bow-
den were pleased to see him around
town for 'a mew days.
Mr. and Mrs. McTavish, of Sea -
forth, visited Miss Grigg and Miss
McFauls oin Sunday.
Mr. Lloyd Rivers returned to Sim-
coe Monday after visiting with his
parents for a few day.
Mrs. F. R. Hamilton and Miss Ag-
nes attended the Hamilton re -union
at Cromarty on Friday.
Parkhill's tax rate this year has
been struck at 374 mills, •a drop
from 45 mills last year.
Mr. R. Ferguson has rented the
dwelling on John St. to be vacated
by Mr. F. A. Chapman:
Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Prebble and
family, of Ilderton, visited with Mrs.
F: R. Hamilton over Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Hy. White, of Inger-
soll, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. W.
J. Heaman over the week -end.
Mrs. Brown, of Kingsville, has re-
turned home aften visiting her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. John Dignan.
Miss Gertrude Knight sang a very
pleasing solo in. Trivitt Memorial
church on Sabbath evening last.
Mr .and Mrs. Jas. P. Stephenson,
of Oshawa, are visiting for a few
•days with with 'Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Coultis.
Mr. J. T. Westcott, of Hamilton,
visited. in Exeter on Saturday last, go-
ing to Hensall for a few days, return-
ing to Exeter for the Fair.
Ma. and Mrs. Wm. Ward. and Mr.
and Mrs. J. W. Powell and little Mar-
ion, motored to London, Hamilton
and St. Catharines for a few days.
Mr. Harry Schwegler, of Hamilton,
visited with Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Dore
last week and was accompanied home
by his mother who has been visiting
here. • -
Mr. and Mrs, N. Ogden and Mr.
and Mrs. P. Coates returned' last Sat-
urclay from Muskoka by way of Tor-
onto, Hamilton, Kitchener, Galt,
and Stratford visiting friends on the
way.
Miss E. R. Hamilton, of Toronto,
and Mr. and Mrs. J. S. McIlraith, of
Durham., visited with Mrs. F. •R.
Hamilton for a few days: They took
in the Hamilton re -union at Crom-
arty on Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hyslop of Grand
Forks, Dakota, and Mr. Frank Ham-
ilton, of Seattle, Wash., are visiting
with Mr. and Mrs. D. C. McInnis and
took in the Hamilton re -union at
Cromarty Friday last.
Mrs., II. El worthy and eldest
daughter, Miss May Elworthy left on
Friday last for Detroit where the lat-
ter. is entering Grace Hospital to
train for a nurse. Mrs. Elworthy
returned on Saturday'.
Mr. Wm. Birney, of Winnipeg, vis-
ited his parents in town for a few
clays last week Mr. Birney and a
gentlemaai friend motored all the way
from Winnipeg to Rochester, New
York, a distance of 1700 miles, in. a
McLaughlin 6 roadster. They made
the trip through the States, and
touched a number of the large cities
enroute.
Mr, Reg. Parsons who has been on
an extended motor trip in the United
States visited his parents, Mr. and
Mrs, S. Parson, for a few days last
week leaving Friday for Erieau to re-
sume his duties teaching school. Mr.
Parsons with a party of Americans,
motored through the state of Nebras-
ka and tile state of California, visit-
ing Yellowstone Park and inanY otli-

The sympathy of the Times is ex-
tendeCto Mr. J. W. Edy, editor of the
St. Marys Journal, inthe loss of his
wife, who died on Sunday following
an illness of over'two years. Be-
sides her bereaved husband one son
Lorne W. Edy, editor of .the Walker-
ton Telescope, and one daughter,
Mrs.. A. Giles, of St., Marys, survives.
The funeral was held on Thursday
afternoon.
