Under construction
Town Hall isn't the only thing under construction this sum-
mer. A number of young castle -builders were seen at the
beach last week, including Alex Badali and Sabrina Zuc-
caro of Toronto and Tia Tessier of London, working on a
moat for their sprawling sand compound. Adding a twist
to his design was Carter Tomlinson (7) of Goderich, who
used sticks, stones, feathers and just about everything
else he could find. The furthest sandcastles was no doubt
five-year-old Rebekah Mancia, who came all the way from
Orlando Florida to visit relatives.
Bluesfest back Labour Day Weekend
The fourth annual West Coast
Bluesfest (WCB) in Goderich is host-
ing three of Canada's premier Blues
artists Saturday Sept. 5 on The Livery
stage.
Memphis Tim, Steve Strongman
and David Rotundo will be featured
at the The Big Event on Saturday.
"Memphis Tim and Steve Strong-
man both played at the International
Blues competition in Memphis earlier
this year. Only 150 acts from around
the globe are invited to this annual
competition," said John Harrison,
president of WCB. "David Rotundo
needs no introduction to the Blues
scene. He and his band keep busy
touring nationally and internationally
throughout the year."
Saturday's Big Event will kick-off
at 4 p.m. with the Chris Murhpy Band
playing a free concert at the gazebo
in Courthouse Park in the historic
Goderich Square. The licensed main
show begins at 8 p.m. Doors open at
7 p.m.
An added feature to this years event,
according to Harrison, is the Friday
night Walkabout Blues line-up. Six
different venues in The Square will
feature blues acts, including Paddy
O'Neils, The Goderich Grill, Bailey's
Fine Dining, J's Bistro, Wicked Wil-
ley's and The Park House Tavern.
Prices for the events on the week-
end are priced at $30 for a weekend
pass that provides entry for Friday
Wallcabout Blues and The Big Event
Saturday, $25 for The Big Event and
$10 for the Walls -About Blues. Tick-
ets are available at Ernie Kings Music
or online at www.westcoastblues.ca.
The Westcoast Bluesfest is pre-
sented by WCB, a not-for-profit
company managed by a volunteer
board of directors.
