M Memoriams
AUSTIN
In loving memory of a dear wife, mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary
Austin, who passed away July 30, 2003.
The angels sang Amazing Grace,
The Lord came down and touched your face,
He held your hand and whispered low,
Come with me, it's time to go.
The gates of Heaven opened wide,
The angels lined up side by side,
A special gift was on her way,
The day God took you away.
Always loved and sadly missed by Eldon, Jeff
and Deb, Darlene and Rick, Deb and Bob,
Mike and Ally and families. —32x
BRUDNICKI
In loving memory of a dear husband, father
and grandfather, Edward Brudnicki, who
passed away August 8, 2006.
This day is remembered and quietly kept,
No words are needed, we never forget,
For those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day.
Sadly missed by your loving wife and family,
Krystyna, Marek, Pete, Stan and Pawel and
families. —32x
HORACE CRAWFORD
In loving memory of a
dear husband, father,
grandfather and great-
grandfather, Horace
Crawford, who passed
away four years ago,
August 3, 2005.
Remember Horace
with a bright smile
today,
He was not one for
tears,
Reflect instead on your memories,
Of his many happy years.
Recall to mind the way he spoke,
Of all the things he said,
His strength, his jokes, his smile, the way he
laughed,
Remember these instead:
The gates of memories will never close,
We miss him more than anyone knows.
Lovingly remembered and greatly missed each
and every day by wife Donna, Dianne, Darlene
and families, grandchildren and great-
granddaughter Clara. —32x
"The aim of every artist is
to arrest motion, which is
life, by artificial means and
hold it fixed so that a
hundred years later, when a.
stranger looks at it,
it moves again since it is
rife.

Feature Garden
This week's feature garden looks at the challenge of finding plant material that will grow under an Evergreen tree. William and
Rae McMaster have found the right combination in their front yard garden at 17 Wellington St. N. They have used hosta, wood-
ruff, lily of the valley, coral bells and geraniums that Willliam cultivated from seed. The McMasters are relative newcomers to
Goderich, having moved here from British Columbia last August. William says his gardens are a work in progress and that he.
has lots of perennials he would be pleased to share.
Mixedoffering of inspiration and
expression on display at Co-op
Descending a Staircase" frag-
mented his figure in numerous
planes, creating almost flip
book image. Griffiths has ex-
perimented in this very style in
his work "Plastic People."
"I enjoy the complexity and
surreal ideas of these artists'
. work and how they have pushed
the envelope of what was possi-
ble in their day," Griffiths said.
"I share similar motives as they
do when deciding on the mes-
sage of a new piece."
"A Detached Observer" is a
timely work tying in nicely with
the fortieth anniversary of the
Moon walk and space explora-
. tion. Reflective not only in its'
theme but in this painting's sub-
ject matter. Have we become
complacent or detached in our
fascination for space travel?
The KryArt Studio is home,
this summer to Griffiths, where
he is working with fellow art-
ist Kristyn Watterworth. Here
he has had the opportunity to
explore new and exciting me-
diums.
The exhibition ''Mixed Tape"
will show for the month of Au-
gust, Monday through Saturday.
For more details visit the web
site at gcgallery@on.ca. or
call 519-440-0523. A working
artist is on-site every day.
Kyle Griffiths is a name one
might be familiar with from
the Goderich Co-op Gallery's
Exposure '09 community art
show. The sole selling artist
is back again for the month
of August in the gallery with
his collection of work entitled
"The Mixed Tape"
Not unlike people making a
musical tape of their favourite
tunes, Kyle has corralled his
most recent work together, dis-
playing a variety of different
mediums.
"The inspiration for my
work can come from anything
and everything.,. I usually get
my ideas watching television; -
listening to music, or just
walking down the street and
stumbling over something in-
teresting. Once I have an idea,
I build on it until I have created
a blueprint for my next paint-
ing," Griffiths said.
The modern world and its'
effect on our surroundings is
what Griffiths' work explores.
In its abstraction "Propane
Nightmares," he manages to
marry environmental under-
tones with a complex and sour
composition. The repeated
folds and congested composi-
tion portray a highly industri-
alized world.

Goderich Co-op gallery, including this piece; Plastic People.
Futurist painters Umberto
Boccioni, Carlo Carra, and
Salvador Dali are among Grif-
fiths' inspirations. These art-
ists had their roots in Italy and
in the first decade of the Twen-
tieth century were impelled by
the growing industrialization
of the great cities of Northern
Italy. Paintings of this nature
bore crowded compositions
sometimes superimposing si-
multaneous images. A Cub-
ist influence is also evident
in Griffiths' piece, "Plastic
People" Cubist painters, like
Marcel Duchamp, reduced their
images to planes and fragments
creating an irresistible surge in
motion. Duchamp's "Nude
