The 149th Dungannon Fair is set
to begin Aug. 7 - 9 with a huge line-
up of new and returning events.
"It's something for everyone,"
said Kelly Thomson president of
the Dungannon Agricultural Soci-
ety. "The fair brings the community
together and hopefully the weather
will cooperate this weekend."
Thomson said groups in Dungan-
non have come together to revital-
ize the fair this year and make it
a great, family fun weekend. Each
group is organizing a special event
during the fair.
On Friday, Aug. 7, the Dungan-
non Teen Team will be hosting a
family movie under the pavilion,
which is new to the fair this year.
The movie, yet to be determined,
begins at 9 p.m. and is free to all
those who attend.
The following day, on Satur-
day Aug. 8, there will be a farm-
ers market, an egg and sausage
breakfast with proceeds going to
the Nile Church, a truck pull and
there will be a food booth provided
by the Dungannon Lions Club. For
more information on the truck pull,
contact Richard Smith at 519-529-
7118.
Saturday night, there will be an
open air dance at the pavilion fea-
turing Smokey Roads, from 9 p.m.
- 1 p.m. There will also be an arm
wrestling contest at 11 p.m. For
more information on tickets call
Kelly Thomson at 519-528-2559
or Lynda McNee, treasurer at 519-
529-7956.
The main events for the entire
family are on Sunday, Aug. 9 and
start at 11 p.m. The day starts with
the parade at 11 a.m., with the event
being organized by the Dungan-
non Lions and the theme this year
is "Dungannon shines in 2009."
For more information contact Rick
Patterson at 519-529-7177.
